The Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., via YouTube Live Stream. A program with agenda and speaker bios will be posted here before the event.

Registration is free but is limited to the statutory OIGs that are members of CIGIE and designated guests from the oversight community. The registration deadline is November 11.

If you are accustomed to attending in-person, we encourage you to join us virtually this year. We had more than 900 virtual participants last year!  And this year there is no limit on the number of participants; so as long as you register by November 11 you are guaranteed a “seat” at the forum.

This year’s theme is Getting to the Next Normal: Innovation, Inclusion, and Resilience in Challenging Times, and will include Leadership Talks given by your colleagues from a wide variety of OIGs, professional backgrounds and positions.  These will be short duration, high-impact talks – similar to TED Talks®.

Inspectors General scheduled to speak at this year’s forum include:

  • The Honorable Michael E. Horowitz
Inspector General, Department of Justice, and CIGIE Chair
  • Allison C. Lerner
Inspector General, National Science Foundation, and CIGIE Vice Chair
  • The Honorable Rae Oliver Davis
Inspector General, Department of Housing and Urban Development
    Chair, CIGIE Professional Development Committee
  • Sandra D. Bruce
Acting Inspector General, Department of Education
  • The Honorable Ann Calvaresi Barr
Inspector General, U.S. Agency for International Development
  • The Honorable Jay N. Lerner
Inspector General, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
  • The Honorable Robert P. Storch
    Inspector General, National Security Agency
  • The Honorable Hannibal “Mike” Ware
    Inspector General, Small Business Administration

To facilitate your virtual attendance:  You will receive the specific conference link and instructions on how to access the event via livestream at least 3 business days prior to the forum.  It is recommended that you test the YouTube website for access and contact your IT department if you are not able to access it.  The formal program is 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST, with short breaks throughout the day, including a break to grab your lunch for our “Brown Bag Lunch” session.  An announcement will be made prior to each break with the exact return time.

An estimated 5.0 CPEs will be awarded to those attending the entire forum.  You will receive an e-mail with a link to an evaluation form the day after the Forum. Certificates will be sent to the email address that you provide in that evaluation form.

For additional information about the event, please contact David Gross, CIGIE Leadership Academy Director, at david.gross@cigie.gov or the Leadership Forum Co-Chairs, Elise Stein at elise.stein@oig.hhs.gov or Jacqui Phillips at JPhillips@hudoig.gov.  We hope to see you on November 18!

About the Forum

Wherever we are in our careers, today’s challenges require us to be resilient and innovative, to identify new opportunities, and to capitalize now more than ever on our diversity to chart the way ahead.  Challenging times require us to ensure that we respond to real-time events with timely and independent oversight, even when facing potential risks to OIG independence. This year’s CIGIE Leadership Forum will focus on the many ways we, as leaders at all levels, work towards the next normal in our organizations and in our approach to our work.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Forum will be fully virtual. The format will again include Leadership Talks, modeled after TED Talks™, as well as some live virtual content. Leadership Talks will be recorded in advance of the event and played for the first time during the Forum. The Forum will also include live virtual talks from Inspectors General and plenty of discussion in the chat room!
