*Visitors should arrive at the entrance to the One White Flint (OWFN) building (11555 Rockville Pike), which is located directly across the street from the White Flint Metro stop (Red line).  All visitors will be processed through security so please make sure to have proper identification (driver’s license or Federal Identification Card).  After processing through security escorts will lead visitors to the T2B3 location. Escorts will be available beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Who Should Attend: CIGIE-members (audit) staff or managers (regardless of grade) involved in Participants will earn 2 CPEs for attending the entirety of the meeting.  There is no cost to attend.

CFO Perspectives

As in the private sector, the Federal Government operates in a business environment where finance has a very critical role to play. In addition to the basic accounting, contro,l and governance functions, Chief Financial Officers have sought to become effective partners to agency heads in helping to optimize operational efficiency. CFO’s must manage the complexities of their roles, while tackling their agencies’ most compelling challenges, and adapting to legislative shifts by providing timely information and  resources.

Learning Objectives: Participants will learn about the roles and responsibilities of CFOs including their insights and perspectives into meeting Federal requirements and expectations of agency senior management and Inspectors General during the annual Financial Statement process.

Virtual Currencies: An Overview

Financial transactions and their records are defining structures in our economic, legal, and political systems.  However, with the advent of virtual currencies such as Bitcoin, the approach to regulating and managing administrative control must also change. As with any technological advancement, there are unique concerns, complexities, and challenges associated with the use, management, and oversight of virtual currencies.   

Learning Objectives: Participants will learn about the basics of virtual currencies as well as their impact on Federal Government operations.  Best practices, insights, and lessons learned associated with various approaches to managing, tracking, and overseeing virtual currencies will be discussed.
